Study: Too many women deprioritize their own pleasure during sex

Undersøgelse: Alt for mange kvinder nedprioriterer deres egen nydelse under sex
Too many women deprioritize their own pleasure during sex. Club Venus demands equality both in and out of bed - because everyone deserves to have access to sexual pleasure in their lives.
Do you prioritize your own pleasure as much as your partner's? And do you guide your partner in how they can give you the most pleasure possible? These are some of the questions Klub Venus, in collaboration with Kvinde kend din statistik, have asked their community in their latest survey under the Reported Pleasure initiative. In total, over 2000 responses have been collected from people across gender and sexuality. 2059 women have participated in the study. You can see the answers to the survey here .
A quarter of the women answer that they rarely or never prioritize their own pleasure as much as their partner's.
14% of women rarely or never feel that their partner prioritizes their pleasure as much as they prioritize their own during sex.
30% of women only feel that their pleasure is prioritized as much as their partner's sometimes.

The orgasm gap

As many as 79% of women who have sex with people with a penis achieve orgasm more often when they have sex alone than when they have sex with a partner.
16% of those who know how to orgasm alone do not know how to orgasm with a partner.

On asking for pleasure

35% do not guide their partner in how the partner can give them the most pleasure.
When we look at the reasons why women do not put their pleasure on the agenda with their partner(s), the typical reasons are that they are afraid of hurting their partner's feelings, afraid of being a nuisance or that they do not know how to guide their partner.

A hyper focus on the body

78% of women think about how their body looks when they have sex. For 69% of them, it has a negative impact on their enjoyment during sex.

About the study, Reported Pleasure

Club Venus's first community survey focuses on women's relationship to sex, pleasure and desire. The figures are sad, and are proof that we unfortunately still live in a society full of expectations for women's sexual behaviour, their bodies and how little or how much they should want sex.
Club Venus wants to promote a culture where there is room for all forms of pleasure, and where (also) women dare to explore their sexuality and take space in their sexual relationships.
We are not equal until we are in bed.
The survey is the first of several that Klub Venus initiates and publishes under the Reported Pleasure initiative.
"With a community built on pleasure we unite voices and give people tangible tools for their political and activist work." - Club Venus
