1. We watch porn if we can't get on IG
When social media goes down, we watch porn. Or at least some of us do. When both Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp were offline for a few hours in October 2021, traffic on the porn site Pornhub increased by 10.5%!
2. Women are better paid than men
The porn industry is one of the few industries where women are better paid than men. Which sounds very good. Male porn actors earn between $500 and $1,200 per movies, while female porn stars can earn up to $4,000. On the other hand, a new and unknown female porn actress earns as low as 300 dollars per film, which may indicate that the porn industry is not remarkably different from other industries in terms of equality and pay after all.

3. We spend almost 10 minutes per visits to porn sites
On average, we spend 9 minutes and 55 seconds per visits to porn sites. Contrary to popular belief, people who identify as female spend 14 seconds longer than people who identify as male, per visit. Perhaps women take longer to come - or the longer visit is just an expression of the fact that it is more difficult to find porn films that appeal to women.
4. People over 35 will see triangles
While people who identify as male do not change preferences for what type of porn they prefer, people who identify as female change their tastes throughout life. Studies show that the 18-34-year-old women prefer amateur porn, while those over 35 want to watch porn movies with threesomes.
5. More porn is watched late at night
This is perhaps not so surprising. The vast majority of porn is streamed between 11pm and 1am. But also in the middle of the day there are actually many people who watch porn - 4pm is quite a popular time. But who doesn't also need an afternoon break?
6. Japanese porn is most popular
“Hentai” (a form of Japanese cartoon porn) was in 2021 the most searched word on the porn site Pornhub, closely followed by “japanese”. So Japan hits in pornland. In third place among the most searched porn words was "lesbian".
7. Corona made us watch more porn
During the first lockdown in March 2020, traffic at Pornhub increased by a whopping 26.9%. The streaming service gave their users free access to their premium content, which you otherwise have to pay for. But even after the period of free access ended, traffic on the porn site was still 17.5% higher compared to the time before Corona.
